45 Arrested, 8 Injured During Iowa State Melee

AMES, Iowa — About 45 bottle-throwing revelers were arrested and eight police officers were injured in a melee early Sunday that marked the third night of disturbances during Iowa State University’s Veishea weekend.
More than 70 local and state law officers dodged bottles and rocks thrown from a crowd of 5,000 who started a bonfire with piles of furniture and debris near campus.
