Golf Roundup : Early Starters Norman and Floyd Share Lead at 65

Greg Norman and Raymond Floyd, taking advantage of moist early-morning greens, shot 7-under-par 65s Thursday to share a 1-shot, first-round lead in the $700,000 Independent Insurance Agent Open at The Woodlands, Tex.
They held the lead over Hal Sutton, who overcame afternoon winds for a 66. Mike Donald, who has missed the cut in half the tournaments he has entered this year, is next at 67.
Bobby Nichols birdied five holes and teamed with partner Butch Baird to shoot a 7-under-par 63 and tie the team of Bob Charles and Bruce Devlin for the first-round lead in the Legends of Golf at Austin, Tex.
The teams of Bill Collins and Billy Maxwell and Tommy Aaron and Lou Graham were one shot off the lead at 64. Arnold Palmer and Miller Barber were at 65 after bogeying the final hole. PGA Tour commissioner Deane Beman and Al Geiberger were at 67.
