New Hammer-China Pact

BEIJING — U.S. industrialist Armand Hammer, whose huge joint-venture coal mine in north China has been plagued by disputes over the price of coal, signed a contract today to build a new joint-venture coal preparation plant. He also signed an agreement for his Occidental Petroleum Corp. of Los Angeles to sell two Chinese companies technology to produce phosphoric acid.
