Texas Instruments Inc. income dipped to $85.5 million in the first quarter from $89.9 million in year-ago period. But the Dallas-based maker of computer microchips said its backlog of unfilled orders rose nearly $1 billion in the quarter. Revenue rose to $1.47 billion from $1.27 billion.
