Between 250 and 300 Army, Navy and Coast Guard personnel will participate in coastal defense maneuvers along the beach in Anaheim Bay this weekend, a Navy spokeswoman said.
The exercises at the Seal Beach Naval Weapons Station will continue until about 11 a.m. Sunday, the spokeswoman said. Ten boats and several helicopters will take part in the exercises, which are designed to simulate actions taken during a coastal invasion. Some boats will take the part of aggressors and others the defenders, she said.
Pleasure-boat operators should be careful to remain in channels designated for small boats, the spokeswoman said. Those who do not may be stopped by participating vessels and asked for identification.
The spokeswoman said that no ammunition of any kind--live or blanks--will be used during the maneuvers.
