Mt. Miguel High School’s Mark Senior and Kevin Jones both set open division and school records Saturday in the Arcadia Invitational track meet.
Senior placed first in the 800 meters in 1:53.09. That beat the open division record of 1:55.53, set by Cerritos’ Allen Gant, and the school record of 1:53.8, set by Richard Farmer.
Jones won the 300-meter intermediate hurdles in 37.88, breaking the open division record of 38.75 set by Pat Orr of Los Angeles’ Loyola High School, and Jones’ own school-record 37.9 in last spring’s state finals.
BASEBALL
Fallbrook’s Jeff Lawrence hit a grand slam and a sacrifice fly and was the winning pitcher in the Warriors’ 8-5 victory Tuesday over Carson City, Nev.
Friday against San Dieguito, Lawrence pitched four hitless innings of relief as Fallbrook raised its Palomar League record to 2-0 with a 5-3 victory. Lawrence, a left-hander, is 3-1.
Scott Oatsvall of El Camino achieved something every pitcher dreams of: a no-hitter. The only problem was, Oatsvall lost. San Pasqual won, 1-0, when a player reached base on an error and then scored on a wild pitch.
