THE PREPS : Roundup : Mission Viejo Comes Back to Edge El Toro in Volleyball

Chad Jones and Greg Amaya rallied Mission Viejo High School to a 7-15, 12-15, 15-11, 18-16, 15-13 victory over El Toro Friday in a South Coast League boys’ volleyball match at Mission Viejo.
Jones had 13 kills and 12 blocks and Amaya had 19 kills and 7 blocks. Mission Viejo is 3-3 overall and 1-1 in league.
In another South Coast League match:
Dana Hills 3, Capistrano Valley 0--Doug Moreland had 13 kills and Todd Ahmadi 11, as visiting Dana Hills (6-2, 2-0) won, 15-4, 15-4, 15-8.
In the Garden Grove League:
La Quinta 3, Pacifica 0--Setter Bryan Petersen had 22 assists as La Quinta won, 15-7, 15-5, 15-3, at Pacifica. Craig Frisby and Tony Price each had nine kills for La Quinta (6-4, 5-0).
Rancho Alamitos 3, Los Alamitos 1--Shawn Tangard had nine kills as host Rancho Alamitos (6-4, 4-2) won, 15-2, 5-15, 15-7, 16-14.
In the Sea View League:
Newport Harbor 3, Estancia 0--Mike Curci had 25 kills as Newport Harbor (3-2, 2-0) won, 15-8, 16-14, 15-7, at Estancia.
In the Sunset League:
Edison 3, Westminster 0--Outside hitter Mike Diehl had seven kills, as host Edison (8-0, 2-0) won, 15-1, 15-2, 15-10.
Huntington Beach 3, Fountain Valley 1--Greg Ryan 22 kills as host Huntington Beach (7-0, 2-0) won, 15-13, 15-8, 5-15, 15-2.
In nonleague girls’ swimming:
El Toro 91, Marina 65--Twenty-five times were recorded that will qualify for the Southern Section 4-A meet, including Bettsi Hu’s 1 minute 55.37 seconds in the 200-yard freestyle. She also finished second in the 500 freestyle in 5:04.31. Cindy Focht of El Toro won the 500 free in 5:02.80 and was second in the 200 free (1:55.53).
In Orange League tennis:
Valencia 18, Magnolia 0--Danny Yu swept his singles matches, 6-1, 6-0, 6-0, to lead Valencia (10-1, 7-0) at Magnolia.
In South Coast League tennis:
Dana Hills 16, Mission Viejo 2--Stan Sanders, playing at No. 1 singles, won all three of his sets to lead host Dana Hills. The Dolphins, top-ranked in the 4-A, are 9-3, 3-0.
