PBS Wins 7 Peabody Awards

ATHENS, Ga. — Public Broadcasting System programs, including the series “Eyes On The Prize: America’s Civil Rights Years,” won seven awards today as the 1987 Peabody Awards for the best in broadcasting were announced.
NBC won two awards, one for the hit series “L.A. Law” and the other for “LBJ: The Early Years,” and NBC-owned affiliates won two others. Home Box Office also won two of the 29 awards given for 1987, for “Mandela” and “America Undercover: Drunk and Deadly.” Cable News Network received a Peabody for its coverage of breaking news stories.
