Two boys, ages 10 and 12, were blamed for starting a fire Friday that caused $175,000 damage to a three-story office building under construction in Burbank.
The two-alarm fire in the 4100 block of West Burbank Boulevard broke out at 5:35 p.m. and had engulfed the building when firefighters arrived, Lt. Joe Latta of the Burbank police said. The fire was out in 55 minutes, Latta said.
Latta said a nearby business owner captured the two boys fleeing the scene. The youngsters told fire investigators that they started the blaze with a cigarette lighter, Latta said. The two were detained at Burbank police headquarters, then turned over to their parents.
