The Reagans’ Friends in Hollywood
Jean Beavers’ letter “The Reagans†(March 22) suggests we all might be missing out with a new President and First Lady who do not show the style, grace and enthusiasm for the stars as the Reagans do. Poppycock! I enjoy seeing show-biz people in the movies and on TV but not in the White House all the time.
With all of us struggling to get our taxes prepared and paid on time, with the homeless trying to feed their families, gang wars, drive-by shootings and the war against AIDS, I am not impressed by Nancy Reagan’s ability to slam dunk a basketball.
When the Reagans retire they will be able to parade and charade with all the entertainers they want. The House Government Operations Committee has just approved $1 million for the Reagans to move to retirement in California next year.
The idea that we might miss this hobnobbing does not sadden me.
