Westwood : UCLA Names Dentistry Dean
Dr. Henry M. Cherrick, dean of the College of Dentistry at the University of Nebraska Medical Center, has been named dean of the UCLA School of Dentistry, effective July 1, university officials announced.
Cherrick will succeed Acting Dean Robert Thye, who plans to return to teaching full time. Before joining the University of Nebraska Medical Center, Cherrick served three years as dean and professor of oral and maxillofacial surgery at the Southern Illinois University School of Dental Medicine.
The author of more than 30 published research articles, Cherrick has done extensive research in such areas as surgical management of pathological processes, oral pathology, bone transplantation, tissue culture of transplanted bone and tissue culture of bone following different sterilization techniques.
