The number of Ohio State athletes showing evidence of drug use has gradually declined since the onset of a testing program in 1984, the university’s team physician said.

“The first year, we had athletes test positive two, three, even a few four times,� Dr. Robert J. Murphy said. “They didn’t think we were serious. Last year, we only had one athlete test positive twice.�
