The committee organizing the 1992 Winter Olympics in Albertville, France, voted unanimously to expand its membership to include Jean-Claude Killy, 1968 triple gold medalist in Alpine skiing.
Killy, 44, had agreed earlier this month to rejoin the Olympic Organizing Committee (COJO) as a co-president, a year after his resignation from the group had caused a public furor.
He will preside over COJO with longtime friend Michel Barnier, a local legislator who joined Killy in the early 1980s to push Albertville’s bid for the Olympics.
