Local News in Brief : Anaheim : 2 More Hotel Workers Threatened With Firing
- Share via
Two more Disneyland Hotel workers could be fired Friday if they refuse to comply with orders to shave their beards and mustaches, Disney officials said.
A Disney spokesman identified the workers as Ronnie Lachpelle, a bartender who wears a beard and mustache, and Jack Chamberlain, also a bartender who wears a mustache. Both were suspended last week and are scheduled to return to work Friday, the spokesman said.
On Tuesday, hotel employees Mike Farrington, 40, a bartender, and Mike Searles, 40, an engineer, became the first hotel workers to be fired for violating the Walt Disney Co. grooming code, which prohibits facial hair. Disney bought the hotel from the Wrather Corp. earlier this year.
Several unions representing Disneyland Hotel workers say the code is unreasonable, and at least 15 workers have filed grievances with the union against it, union officials said.
Lachpelle and Chamberlain could not be reached for comment Wednesday.
