Glendale Man Accused of Kidnaping, Soliciting Sex

A Glendale man was arrested on suspicion of kidnaping for allegedly holding an undocumented worker captive in his home and soliciting him for sex, police said.

Glendale police arrested Joseph H. Fabish, 36, accused of kidnaping Martin Rodriguez, 21. Fabish was released from jail last Thursday on $25,000 bail. He is scheduled for arraignment May 4 in Glendale Municipal Court.

According to police reports, Fabish on March 3 met Rodriguez, an illegal alien, at an undisclosed location and hired him to work at his Linda Vista Drive home. Rodriguez told police that Fabish said the work would require a several-day stay at his house.

Rodriguez told police that he worked in Fabish’s garden the first day without incident. But that night, Fabish, wearing no clothes, entered Rodriguez’ room and asked the worker to have sex with him and his wife, the police report said.

Rodriguez said he declined that request as well as one to be massaged by Fabish, the police report said. Rodriguez said Fabish then threatened to have him deported if he didn’t cooperate with him, the police report said.

Rodriguez told police that, fearing such retaliation, he allowed Fabish to massage him for a few moments.

The next morning, Rodriguez told police, all the doors of the house were locked, and he could not get out without a key. Rodriguez told police that Fabish stayed in bed all day and refused to unlock the doors.

Finally, at 5 p.m., Fabish drove him to a house in Los Angeles where Rodriguez is living. Police said they are uncertain whether Fabish is married.

Rodriguez reportedly told a friend about the incident, and the two of them reported it to police.
