Local News in Brief : 2 Women Killed in Head-On Collision
Two women were killed in a head-on collision Monday while driving to work on California 126 near Val Verde, the California Highway Patrol said.
Lori Jean Keogh, 31, of Saugus, was driving east when her car swerved into the westbound lane and crashed into a car driven by Linda N. Van Zile, 42, of Valencia, said CHP Officer Ralph Elvira.
Elvira said the impact of the accident, which occurred about 7:30 a.m. a mile west of the Golden State Freeway, forced Van Zile’s car off the road and overturned it.
Keogh, who was three months pregnant, was killed on impact, and Van Zile was taken to Henry Mayo Newhall Hospital in Valencia, where she was pronounced dead, Elvira said.
Keogh’s husband was driving to work behind his wife when he came upon the accident, which closed both lanes of 126 until about 9:30 a.m., authorities said.
