Experts in horticulture, landscape architecture and water conservation will be featured at the sixth annual Xeriscape Conference beginning Wednesday at the Irvine Marriott Hotel.
The featured speaker for the two-day conference will be KABC-TV meteorologist George Fishbeck, who will discuss weather and the need to conserve water.
Workshop topics will include the use of native California plants and vegetation to retain attractive landscape settings with little water, hence the term Xeriscape, which refers to dry or desert-like conditions.
The conference is sponsored by the Municipal Water District of Orange County, the Metropolitan Water District of Southern California and the state Department of Water Resources.
Registration fee information is available through the Orange County Municipal Water District at (714) 973-1023.
