Softball : Woodbridge’s Boyd Perfect, Then Some

Tiffany Boyd pitched a perfect game Saturday, but if that wasn’t enough, she came back the same day to pitch a no-hitter as Woodbridge High School defeated Hemet, 5-0, and Arcadia, 10-0, in a first-round doubleheader of the Woodbridge tournament at Harvard Park in Irvine.
Boyd (7-2) struck out 17 against Hemet and 19 against Arcadia.
The Warriors totaled 23 hits in the two games, and Lisa Wehren hit a home run against Arcadia.
In other Woodbridge tournament games:
Capistrano Valley 1, Irvine 0--Jennifer Smith (9-2) pitched a one-hitter and struck out eight for the victory.
El Dorado 2, Capistrano Valley 1--Pitcher Keri Lucas (3-4) gave up six hits and struck out three and also hit a home run and a double for El Dorado.
Bellflower 3, Foothill 0--Charlene Hommerding pitched a one-hitter and struck out 13 for Bellflower.
Bellflower 1, El Toro 0--Hommerding pitched a one-hitter and struck out 12 for the victory.
El Toro 9, Foothill 4--Charger Jenny Jourden gave up nine hits and struck out four for the victory. Regina Borts had a double and Cindy Way a triple for El Toro.
San Clemente 4, La Mirada 1--Wendy Stewart hit a two-run home run in the fifth inning for the Tritons (7-2). Tara Roush (3-0) gave up six hits and struck out three for the victory.
San Clemente 4, Pacifica 1--The Tritons picked up eight hits and Niqua Monson (4-2) gave up three hits for the victory.
In the Canyon tournament:
San Diego Madison 4, Huntington Beach 1--Kim Lester tripled with two on to break a 1-1 tie in the fifth and lead Madison to the victory at Peralta Park in Anaheim.
Righetti 7, Canyon 6--Righetti won on Shannon Munker’s three-run triple in the bottom of the sixth. Canyon’s Krissy Kyriazis went 3 for 3, with 1 run scored and 1 RBI.
Kennedy 3, Righetti 2--Deanna Mays went 3 for 3 for Kennedy. Cheryl Longeway picked up the victory (8-2).
Kennedy 7, Thousand Oaks 4--Home runs by Kris Vucurevic and Stephanie Hill helped give Cheryl Longeway (9-2) her second win of the day.
Valencia 9, Garden Grove 0--Michele Granger (8-1) threw a one-hitter and struck out 19 for Valencia.
Mater Dei 5, Huntington Beach 2--Sunday Mosqueda pitched a two-hitter to lead Mater Dei.
