FOCUS : Memories of Times Past
A walk along Placentia’s Santa Fe Avenue district evokes times gone by. Instead of glassy, glitzy malls there are quaint corner taverns, nostalgic family run stores, and old established restaurants--no fern bars here.
The Bradford House is a handsome two-story home build in 1902 by one of Placentia’s founders, Albert Sumner Bradford. A visitor to the historic mansion steps back in time to the era of sprawling orange groves.
While the atmosphere of the past is still dominant, there is a growing movement for development of Placentia’s final two segments of pristine rural land.
Hand-in-hand with the urging for new projects is a joint effort by the city and property owners to spruce up and restore what is theirs.
