Italian Builder Says He Paid Bribes for Public Contracts

An Italian businessman has told a special commission probing corruption allegations against three former ministers that he was forced to pay massive bribes to win public building contracts.

Construction company chief Bruno De Mico told reporters after the hearing: “I was forced to pay. They fixed the price. I confirmed everything and I will continue to do so.â€

Former Public Works Minister Franco Nicolazzi, former Justice Minister Clelio Darida and ex-Posts Minister Vittorino Colombo are under investigation.
