U.S. officials are considering returning some of the Cuban detainees who rioted at the Atlanta Federal Penitentiary in November to the institution to await deportation, a spokeswoman for the Bureau of Prisons has confirmed. Meanwhile, Joseph Petrovsky, warden at the Atlanta facility, said work is under way to repair housing units to hold a small group of prisoners, and prison administrators are developing a contingency plan for dealing with the detainees. Guidelines need to be developed if the Cubans are returned to prevent tensions between prison workers and the rioters, who held 100 prison employees hostage for 11 days, Petrovsky said.
