Jan Hall’s Traffic View Challenged
Your paper recently quoted Jan Hall as saying she considered the major issue in Long Beach was “to make sure traffic does not overwhelm our neighborhoods.†This brings three things to mind:
1. Jan Hall spearheaded the opposition some years ago which effectively killed the cross-town freeway, which would have been the single biggest item to alleviate the increased east-west traffic flow in our city for many years to come.
2. In her third term as councilwoman, Jan Hall’s district continues to have the worst traffic and parking problems.
3. As president of the RTD, Jan Hall has the opportunity to lead this group in helping to alleviate traffic on our freeways. But, it was only last April that the Los Angeles County Grand Jury found such deplorable conditions with the RTD operations and management that they recommended that either the general manager or the total RTD board, including Mrs. Hall, be replaced.
