A police undercover operation has netted 73 would-be customers of prostitutes along El Cajon Boulevard.
Three female police officers posing as prostitutes made the arrests between 10:30 p.m. Friday and 2:30 a.m. Saturday, according to San Diego Police Department spokesman Bill Robinson. Those arrested, all men, were issued misdemeanor citations and released on their own recognizance, Robinson said.
Dubbed “Operation John,†the occasional sweeps of the boulevard, from 40th Street to the La Mesa city limits, are in response to complaints from business owners and residents, Robinson said.
