If you are of a mind to get rid of unused musical instruments and other musical paraphernalia, now is the time to clean out your closets. The UC San Diego music department will hold an instrument swap meet on May 1 to benefit The Friends of Music. According to Bonnie Harkins of the UCSD music department, anything from old turntables to speakers and even metronomes will be welcome.
Harkins said the swap meet would also provide live entertainment and demonstration of unusual instruments. People will be encouraged to buy instruments at the auction, and, if they don’t have a use for them, to donate the instruments to deserving area high school musicians. Donors and persons interested in swapping should contact Harkins at 534-4830.
