Stefanie Pemper scored 6 of her 12 points in the fourth quarter to lead Huntington Beach High School to a 44-34 victory over Foothill in a Southern Section 4-A girls’ first-round basketball game Saturday night at Foothill.
Pemper’s efforts helped Huntington Beach (16-8) outscore the Knights, 17-7, in the fourth quarter to break a 27-27 tie after three quarters.
Huntington Beach will play Morningside in a second-round game Wednesday night.
“I don’t think we shot well at all in the first half,” said Kathy Doyle, Huntington Beach coach. “But in the fourth quarter, our outside shots were coming down, and Pam’s (Fogg) two outside shots in the period were big keys for us.”
Fogg scored four of her six points in the fourth quarter. Tami Chick led the Oilers with 15 points. Ashley Selman scored 10 points for Foothill, which finished its season at 15-9.
