Raider tackle Brian Holloway said he was “doing fine†Tuesday night, a few hours after surgery at Centinela Hospital Medical Center in Inglewood to repair a torn rotator cuff in his right shoulder.

“I’ve played with it quite a while, and it had been causing me quite a bit of discomfort,†Holloway said by phone. “Then I had Dr. (Frank) Jobe look at it, and he did it.â€

A year ago Jobe repaired a similar injury to the passing shoulder of Chicago Bears quarterback Jim McMahon.

Holloway, 28, came to the Raiders in a trade late last summer after starting six seasons for the New England Patriots. A three-time Pro Bowl selection, he moved into the Raiders’ starting lineup at left offensive tackle for the last seven games.

Three weeks ago Holloway also had surgery to remove cartilage and bone chips from his right knee and bone spurs from his right ankle.

“Being with a new organization, this will allow me to play at a higher level,†he said. “I’m excited about next season.â€
