American Telephone & Telegraph is counting heavily on foreign investment and the computer communications market for its future growth, the company’s chief financial officer said. AT&T;’s Robert M. Kavner, speaking at a meeting of the Los Angeles Society of Financial Analysts, predicted that the company would make further investments along the lines of its European joint venture with the Dutch electronics firm N.V. Philips. He said that would be the only way AT&T; is likely to expand its presence in difficult-to-penetrate foreign markets.
