Japan Bows to GATT Rule on Farm Items

GENEVA — Delegates at a council meeting of the General Agreement on Tariffs and Trade told Japan on Tuesday to lift import curbs on 10 types of farm products to get into line with international rules.
Japan said it accepted the ruling, but immediately made clear that it wants to exempt two categories of goods--starches and dairy products.
