As if the acclaim his new musical “The Phantom of the Opera†is receiving on Broadway isn’t enough, Andrew Lloyd Webber may have a production of his earlier hit, “Cats,†hitting the stage in the Soviet Union. Vienna’s Theater an der Wien production of the musical captivated Soviet foreign minister Eduard Shevardnadze when he saw it in 1986, and a spokesman for the company said Tuesday it was “99% sure†the Austrian cast would give an English-language guest performance at Moscow’s Operetta Theater in May.
