Max von Sydow--veteran film actor and longtime colleague of Swedish director Ingmar Bergman--is back on the Stockholm stage after a 13-year professional absence from Sweden marred by tax disputes with the government. But Von Sydow, 58, says his return to the stage--in “Master Olof� by Swedish playwright August Strindberg--was prompted more by a feeling of age than his victory in the European Court of Human Rights, which awarded him $210,000 after a protracted legal dispute with Swedish tax authorities. “Suddenly you realize that the good parts belong to a certain age group. Suddenly you’re too old,� he said during rehearsals for the Strindberg performances.
