$200 Petition Fee OKd
The City Council approved a resolution Tuesday that establishes a $200 fee to file a notice of intent to circulate initiative petitions in Hermosa Beach.
New state legislation requires petitioners to submit proposed measures to the city clerk and the city attorney for processing. The $200 fee is the maximum allowed under the new law to offset the cost of having staff members work on each initiative, estimated to be four hours for the city attorney and 15 to 20 hours for the city clerk.
The fee will be refunded if the required number of certified signatures are collected.
