First, Vice President George Bush, and now Las Vegas Mayor Ron Lurie. The mayor says CBS News gave the country the wrong view of the city on “48 Hours†Tuesday and that “once again, Dan Rather lost his objectivity†in the program’s profile of the town and its people. In a letter sent Wednesday to CBS News President Howard Stringer, Lurie said many parts of the program “were an insult†to his city. The show’s looks at life in the gambling town included gambling addiction, headliners, quickie weddings and teen-agers.
