Pepperdine’s Lewis Held to 10 as Gonzaga Wins

SPOKANE, Wash. — Senior forward Danny Roe scored a team-high 20 points as four Gonzaga players were in double figures Thursday night in a 70-63 West Coast Athletic Conference victory over Pepperdine.
Roe’s jump shot with 15:47 left in the first half gave the Bulldogs a 9-8 lead, and they never trailed.
Junior guard Doug Spradley added 15 points and a game-high 7 assists as the Bulldogs won their first WCAC game of the season. Center Paul Verret scored 14 points, and Todd Franklin had 10.
Gonzaga improved its record to 1-2 in the conference and 10-6 overall.
Pepperdine, which fell to 2-1 and 10-6, was led by senior center Levy Middlebrooks, who scored 20 points.
Sophomore Tom Lewis, who entered the game as the league’s leading scorer, was limited to a season-low 10 points on 1-of-10 shooting.
Pepperdine shot 37.7%.
