El Cajon Church Damaged by Fire

A fire that started in a forced-air heating unit caused an estimated $50,000 in damage to an El Cajon church Thursday morning, firefighters said.
The blaze broke out shortly before 5 a.m. at St. Kieran’s Roman Catholic Church on Camilo Way.
It took 28 firefighters an hour to control the fire.
Capt. Jerry Faupel of the Bostonia Fire Department was hit by a falling object while battling the blaze. He was taken to Sharp Hospital, where he was examined and released.
