Venice : Hughes Gives $30,000 to Clinic
Hughes Aircraft Co. of Los Angeles has donated $30,000 to the Venice Family Clinic for medical services to the poor and homeless living on the Westside.
“Hughes is proud to support the vital work being done by this clinic, and we join in their efforts to enhance the quality of life for those in the community with no other access to medical care,†said Dr. Albert Wheelon, Hughes chairman and chief executive officer.
Last year, the nonprofit clinic at 604 Rose Ave. provided free health care to more than 24,000 indigent patients, said a clinic spokesman. Nearly 75% of the clinic’s patients are minorities and one-third are children, he said.
