Survey to Gauge Support for CSUN Athletic Programs
- Share via
Cal State Northridge soon will embark on a campaign to test community support for its athletic programs, university President James Cleary said Friday.
Northridge will send out questionnaires to businesses in the San Fernando Valley next week asking if an increase in attendance and/or financial support can be expected if the university’s athletic teams move from Division II to Division I in the National Collegiate Athletic Assn.
Faculty and student committees also will be queried before Cleary decides whether Northridge will change divisions. The decision probably will not be announced until May, Cleary said.
To make the move, Northridge must petition the NCAA by June 1 or wait another year.
