A Laguna Beach man was killed Sunday evening when his motorcycle collided with a car at an intersection in Huntington Beach, police reported.
The victim, 21, whose name was being withheld pending notification of relatives, was pronounced dead at the scene of the 5:36 p.m. accident on Ellis Avenue at Newland Street. He was wearing a helmet at the time of the crash, but it was knocked off by the impact, police said.
The motorcyclist had been riding east on Ellis when he was hit by the car, which was turning left from westbound Ellis to southbound Newland, said police Lt. Bill Mamelli. The driver of the car, John Bounds, 41, of Fountain Valley, was not injured.
