1 Killed as Rig Hits Truck, Restaurant
DETROIT — A truck went through a stop sign on an Interstate 75 exit road Friday, colliding with another truck and slamming through the side of a restaurant, killing one person and injuring seven other people, officials said.
The rig, hauling a load of steel, ran into the side of the N&N; Coney Island restaurant after colliding with a truck carrying meat, said police Sgt. Christopher Buck.
State Police Lt. James Johnson said the steel hauler did not halt at a stop sign when exiting eastbound I-75. He said the driver of the meat truck was killed on impact.
“Because of the cold weather we have been unable to tell whether the brakes in the vehicle were working,†Johnson said. “We’re attempting to determine if there was moisture in the line,†Johnson said.
