Alonso to Take Part in Dance Benefit for AIDS

MEXICO CITY — The Cuban ballerina Alicia Alonso says she will participate in a benefit in Belgium to raise funds for the fight against AIDS, Cuba’s Prensa Latina news agency reported.
Alonso told reporters Thursday that she and fellow Cuban dancer Orlando Salgado would leave on Jan. 17 to participate in the benefit in Brussels. She said dancers including Italy’s Carl Francci and Lian Daydee of France also were expected to participate, according to Prensa Latina.
