TRUCKEE, Calif. — Two missing skiers were found cold but safe early Tuesday about three miles from the top of Mt. Lincoln, according to officials at the Sugar Bowl Ski Resort.
Jeff Cawdrey, 30, of San Diego, and his brother, Mark, 31, of Tiburon, were found at 3:40 a.m. by members of the Tahoe Nordic Search and Rescue team, said Peter Bachner, spokesman for the resort.
The two men were reported missing by relatives around 6 p.m. Monday.
“The two had skied out of bounds from clearly marked boundaries on 8,380-foot Mt. Lincoln and headed for a cabin on Donner Lake,” Bachner said.
He said the weather was marked by “poor visibility and a steady snowfall of about 2 inches per hour” when the men became lost.
