A lawyer for the 7-year-old daughter of a stewardess killed in the crash of PSA Flight 1771 Dec. 7 has filed a wrongful-death suit in Los Angeles against the airline’s parent company and its security firm.

The suit, filed Wednesday by lawyer Annette Bialson on behalf of Lauren Nicole Neil and her guardian, Michael Nissen, names USAir and Ogden Allied Aviation Services Corp. as defendants. It seeks unspecified damages from the two companies for the death of Deborah Nissen Neil, a flight attendant on the ill-fated PSA flight.

The suit claims the security company was negligent in its duty to search for weapons among passengers boarding the flight.

Neil, 37, of San Jose, was among the 43 people killed in the crash of the San Francisco-bound jet. Authorities say the crash was caused by David A. Burke, a fired USAir employee who smuggled a gun aboard the jet, bypassing airport security.
