A Navy warrant officer and his wife were identified Monday as the victims of a murder-suicide Sunday in Coronado, San Diego County Deputy Coroner Everett Mauger reported.

San Diego County Sheriff’s Department SWAT officers discovered the bodies of Chief Warrant Officer Carl Glenn Norman, 46, who was stationed at the North Island Naval Air Station, and his wife, Arladyne Norman, 51, in their Orange Avenue apartment at 6:42 a.m. Sunday, Mauger said.

Coronado police responded to calls shortly after 12:30 a.m. from neighbors who reported hearing a loud argument and three shots. SWAT officers were called in after several attempts to contact the couple failed, Mauger said.

After throwing in tear gas and concussion grenades, SWAT officers forced their way into the apartment shortly before 7 a.m. Inside, they found both had suffered gunshot wounds, Mauger said.

Carl Norman apparently killed his wife before turning the gun on himself, Mauger said.
