Prep Soccer Roundup : Oldham’s Hat Trick Leads Mater Dei Over Claremont

Mater Dei High School’s Paul Oldham scored three goals for the fourth time in five games as the Monarchs beat Claremont, 5-0, in the second round of the South Torrance soccer tournament Saturday at South Torrance High School. Scott Gallegos and Sam George also scored.

Earlier in the day, Oldham and John Coggins each scored two goals as Mater Dei defeated Miraleste, 4-0.

Mater Dei (5-0) has not allowed a goal this season.

In the Los Alamitos tournament:

Los Alamitos 2, Lynwood 1--The Griffins (4-2) advanced to the championship game on goals by Ted Colb and Tony Blasing. In the first round, Tommy Ritchie scored two goals as Los Alamitos defeated Norwalk, 6-1. The Griffins will meet Millikan, which defeated Lakewood, 3-0, on penalty kicks, in the championship Monday at 7:30 p.m. at Oak Middle School.

In the Orange Holiday tournament:

Orange 2, Mission Viejo 1--Freshman Ricky Heimer scored two goals to put Orange (5-1-1) into the championship game next Saturday at Chapman, where it will face Edison, a 5-4 winner on penalty kicks over Dominguez.

Canyon 1, Fontana 0--Brian Lou scored the game’s only goal to lift Canyon (6-1) over Fontana (2-3), and into the consolation final.

In the Irvine tournament:

Dana Hills 2, Laguna Beach 1--Andres Juarez and Scott Smith scored to give Dana Hills (3-2) the consolation title at Irvine High School.

In girls’ soccer:

Dana Hills 1, Corona del Mar 0--(OT)--Helen Crowe scored on a penalty kick with 10 seconds remaining to give the Dolphins the Irvine tournament consolation championship at Irvine High School.

Karla Gunderson made 12 saves for Dana Hills (4-2). Kim Kolstad made 10 saves for the Sea Kings (4-2).
