Police announced Saturday that 18 more people arrested in a massive Malaysian security crackdown had been released, bringing the number still in detention to 62.

Those released included opposition and government politicians.

More than 100 people were arrested in a crackdown launched in late October that officials said was aimed at reducing racial tension. Just over half of Malaysia’s 16 million people are Malay, one-third are Chinese and 10% are Indian.

On Nov. 20, police ordered the release of 11 detainees and 10 days later announced the freeing of another 15.
