It hasn’t been determined whether Jeff Maree, a USC reserve safety, will be allowed to play in the Jan. 1 Rose Bowl game in the wake of charges that he allegedly kidnaped his former girlfriend.
Maree, 22, a senior is scheduled to be arraigned Jan. 5 in Rio Hondo Municipal Court.
El Monte Police Detective Paul Paulson said that Maree was charged with kidnaping last Friday, two days after he had allegedly abducted his former girlfriend as she left her place of employment in El Monte.
Maree then took the woman, who was not identified, to the Pasadena area, Paulson said.
“No one was hurt physically, and the incident appeared to be more emotional than physical,” Paulson said.
Maree has been released on his own recognizance.
