Neil Lomax had the big numbers, but he just pointed to the big guys.

Lomax passed for 369 yards and a pair of touchdowns to lead the St. Louis Cardinals to a 34-21 victory over the Atlanta Falcons, then gave the credit to his offensive line.

“The offensive line is a direct correlation on me,†Lomax said. “They gave me all day to throw and if I get the time, I’m going to find somebody. That’s my job.

“When they play well, I play well. Right now I’m doing well.â€

Lomax completed 7 of 9 passes for 169 yards in the first period and was 16 of 25 for 279 in the opening half. He was 25 for 42 with 1 interception in the game.

It was the second consecutive road victory for the Cardinals (5-6), who beat Philadelphia, 31-19, last week to break an 0-8-1 road drought.

“It’s a win on the road and that’s very important,†St. Louis Coach Gene Stallings said. “When you don’t play that well and still win you’re obviously doing something right.â€

Earl Ferrell scored twice on one-yard runs and the St. Louis defense set up two touchdowns and a field goal with turnovers in handing the Falcons (2-9) their sixth loss in a row.

Gerald Riggs had 60 yards in 15 carries and a one-yard touchdown run for Atlanta before leaving the game with a shoulder injury early in the second quarter.
