A storm system that spread snow and ice across the central plains and lower Missouri Valley moved across Wisconsin, and ahead of it heavy rain fell from the eastern Great Lakes into Virginia. Heavy snow fell over parts of Minnesota with up to five inches reported by midday at Olivia and Grove City and more than three inches at Litchfield. North-central Iowa had one to three inches of snow and the southwestern part of the state had up to 10 inches. Red Oak reported a 10-inch snowfall while Shenandoah had nine inches. In the wake of the storm, Centralia, Kan., reported seven inches of snow on the ground. One to three inches of snow was on the ground across northwestern Missouri. Icy travel conditions, caused by freezing drizzle, were reported across northeastern Nebraska and eastern North Dakota. Freezing rain fell in New York state and Vermont.
