College Basketball Highlights : Hahn Scores 24 for Master’s in 88-75 Loss

Junior forward Phil Hahn scored a game-high 24 points for The Master’s but his performance was not enough as Missouri Baptist beat the Mustangs, 88-75, Saturday night in the third round of the Covenant College tournament in Lookout Mountain, Tenn.
Guard Rocky Shipes scored 14 of his 23 points in the first half to give Master’s a 35-31 lead two minutes before halftime, but Missouri rallied to go ahead, 39-37, at intermission.
Master’s dropped to 0-5. Missouri (5-1) won the round-robin tournament.
Hahn scored 15 points in the second half, but Missouri padded its lead and held off the Mustangs’ rally.
Missouri had 49 rebounds, including 22 on offense. Master’s grabbed 26 rebounds.
Moorpark 104, Grossmont 79--Five Moorpark players scored in double figures as the Raiders finished in third place in the Pony Tournament of Champions at Saddleback College.
Tom Neumayr scored 21 points to lead Moorpark (3-2), which converted 62.5% of its field-goal attempts. Fred Parks had 20 points and Rich Murphy added 19. Freshman center Jerry Markray came off the bench to score 17 points, grab 17 rebounds and block three shots, and David Bussey added 10 points.
After Grossmont (1-4) scored the game’s first basket, Moorpark went on an 18-point scoring spree and pulled ahead, 45-34, at halftime.
Canyons 114, Valley 73--Sophomore guard Butch Mettinger scored 25 points to lead College of the Canyons to a 114-73 nonconference victory over Valley at Canyons.
Troy Lehman scored 14 points and Darrin Moloznik added 13 for Canyons (4-2), which had four players in double figures. The Cougars’ Rusty Morse put in 12 points.
Steve Ward led Valley with 16 points. Michael Jackson added 14.
WOMEN
Moorpark 57, Cypress 45--Karina Hardman scored a game-high 19 points and Carol Kellick added 17 to lead Moorpark’s victory over Cypress that gave the Lady Raiders third place in the Big Mac Classic at College of the Desert.
Moorpark held Cypress to 14 points in the second half. The Lady Raiders forced 15 turnovers and had 10 steals.
Hardman and Kellick each had 11 rebounds for Moorpark (2-4).
