Iran-Contra Affair Report
Four and a half pages to the Iran-Contra report! This was not a major news story. Why? Simply consider the source. It was a predictable political polemic that might just as well have been written (maybe it was) by the National Democratic Committee.
Nothing new was revealed in the report; it was simply subjective lecturing.
Not many representatives and senators can be rightfully accused of high moral tone, dedication to real duty and moral and spiritual leadership. But then you don’t examine them in your new kind of journalism. The Times has moved from being a reputable newspaper to an unabashed journal of leftist opinion. Your manic preoccupation with the White House disserves the public and lets these 535 inept folks go unexamined and unaccountable.
Mark up another victory for all blind Reagan haters, for a masterful manipulation of a secondary non-news story into a major event for the national liberal media.
Would you have treated the story the same way had John F. Kennedy been in the White House?
