Firefighters found the body of an Inglewood man Friday after a suspected arson fire swept through a former bank building in the unincorporated Athens area, causing an estimated $825,000 damage.
The Los Angeles County coroner’s office identified the victim as James Sanders Jr., 20. His body was found shortly before noon as firefighters sifted through the remains of a 75,000-square-foot storage building at Imperial Highway and Western Avenue.
Fifteen county fire units responded to the call at 5:22 a.m and controlled the fire within an hour. Arson investigators were probing the victim’s death and the cause of the blaze, a department spokesman said.
